Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology and Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski Forge New Cooperation Agreement

On May 31, 2024, in Sofia, the “Stephan Angeloff” Institute of Microbiology, a leading scientific unit of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences specializing in microbiology, virology, and immunology, and the important member of the Pasteur Network in Southeastern Europe, signed a cooperation agreement with Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” the oldest higher education institution in Bulgaria.

This agreement aims to foster collaboration in various educational and scientific fields. Key aspects of the cooperation include:

• Joint Training Programs: Developing opportunities for joint training of highly qualified specialists in bachelor’s and master’s programs.
• Doctoral Student Development: Enhancing the quality of training and preparation of doctoral students in accredited fields (4.3. Natural Sciences) through joint doctoral courses and exchanges.
• Research Collaboration: Jointly developing research projects and applying for external funding as partners, including collaborations with external organizations upon mutual agreement.
• Scientific Events: Organizing and supporting scientific forums, conferences, congresses, seminars, workshops, open days, and other scientific and public events.
• Mobility and Professional Development: Supporting the mobility, exchange of experience, and professional development of students and teachers through participation in training courses and short-term specializations both domestically and internationally, including those organized by the Pasteur Network.

This agreement lays the foundation for successful long-term cooperation, benefiting the advancement of science and society.
