Fulfilling Louis Pasteur’s legacy, a comment in The Lancet
 
Rebecca F. Grais, Amadou A. Sall and Stewart T. Cole, current representatives of the Pasteur Network, co-wrote a comment that traces the network’s main developments from its inception to the present day in the 400th volume of The Lancet. Other articles are also dedicated to Pasteur and his legacy in the same issue.

MALDI-TOF MS: an international surveillance tool of vector mosquitoes

Rapid detection of vector species of dengue virus, and prevention of their establishment can be achieved by tracking vectors. Scientists from the Pasteur Network published an article showing MALDI-TOF MS as a promising tool that could be used for an international surveillance of mosquito vectors of arbovirus.

Researchers have developed the Healthy Food Environment Policy Index to assess the policy of authorities for the creation of a healthy food environment. They analyzed and compared the policies of 11 European countries. Their main shortcomings are in the areas of food supply policies, financing, etc.

ISIDORe - Risk-group 4 pathogens call for proposals
Deadline for pre-applications: February 07th, 2023.
 
Pathogens classified as Risk Group 4 (RG4) causing serious human or animal disease with important transmission rate, lack effective treatment and preventive measures. In the framework of the ISIDORe RG4 call, proposals must focus on at least one of the following pathogens: Ebola virus, Marburg virus, Nipah virus, Hendra virus, Lassa virus, “New world arenaviruses”, CCHF virus. Proposals must require access to at least one of the ISIDORe services and be aligned with at least one of the sections presented on the calls webpage.

Pasteur Joint International Research Unit (PIU) - Call 2023
Application deadline: March 31st, 2023.
 
To implement their scientific strategy, create new scientific synergies and boost the existing ones, the Pasteur Network and the Institut Pasteur support the creation of Pasteur Joint International Research Units (PIU). It is a “Virtual Unit” created for 5 years and brings together research teams belonging to up to three international research institute or university whereof at least one belongs to the Pasteur Network.

ISIDORe - pathogens with epidemic/pandemic potential call for proposals
Deadline for pre-applications: as long as funding remains available.
 
A large number of pathogens target the human respiratory tract, resulting in a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations. The ISIDORe consortium supports scientists with an interest in following respiratory pathogens: zoonotic betacoronaviruses, Influenza A, Y. Pestis, M. Tuberculosis/bovis, C. burnetii. Researchers are invited to submit any proposal that requires access to at least one of the ISIDORe services, and falls under one of the sections highlighted on the calls webpage.
