A nasal vaccine against pertussis
Institut Pasteur de Lille et al., The Lancet

Pertussis is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis that can lead to fatal complications in infants. Although current vaccines protect against the development of the disease in adults, they do not prevent the transmission of the bacteria between individuals. A study involving the Institut Pasteur de Lille proposed a new nasal pertussis vaccine, code-named BPZE1, which proved effective in preclinical models and non-toxic in Phase 1 clinical trials.
