76th ANNIVERSARY OF THE STEPHAN ANGELOFF INSTITUTE OF MICROBIOLOGY - BAS, MEMBER OF THE PASTEUR INTERNATIONAL NETWORK

The 76th anniversary of the foundation of the Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was celebrated with an official meeting and scientific session on March 7, 2023.

Dr. Rebecca Grais, Executive Director of the Pasteur Network and Mr. Arnaud Bauberot , Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation at the French Embassy in Bulgaria were invited as special guests of the event. 

 The Director of the Institute, Prof. Penka Petrova, opened the event and awarded Dr. Rebecca Grais a plaquette and certificate for her dedication and commitment to the Pasteur Network activities. The French Cultural Institute in Bulgaria also accepted a certificate and plaquette for the support of scientific research and partnership relations. Prof. Dr. Nina Ivanovska, long-time head of the "Immunology" Department at The Institute, on the occasion her retirement, was honored for her devotion to scientific and administrative work and strengthening connections within the Pasteur Network.

Dr. Rebecca Grais presented new opportunities for the development of joint projects and cooperation between the Institutes and scientists within the Pasteur Network. The heads of departments then presented the activities of the units, their teams and latest scientific achievements. The presentations given can be found here.

Dr. Grais also visited some of the laboratories and got acquainted with the investigations of young scientists.

On the ceremony The Stephan Angeloff Foundation awarded prizes for the best publication of a young Bulgarian microbiologist for 2022 to:

Nicolet Pavlova, Department of Genetics, Faculty of Biology, Kliment Ohridski University - 2nd prize

Nikola Ralchev, Department of Immunology, Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology, BAS - 3rd prize

Lyudmila Dimitrova, Department of Infectious Microbiology, Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology, BAS - 3rd prize
